There is nothing for the Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing to clarify concerning the serving of alcohol at a recent Gala Dinner held during the Global Travel Meet. Tourism is a big business and Malaysians should let the minister to do his work to bring revenue and business into the country. What we need is money coming into the country to help the economy, not picking on the issues that liqueur should not be served just because there is a directive to ban liqueur during official functions because Muslims are around and we have to respect their presence?

(Melbourne, 2 October 2025) The NGO Sabah Sarawak Rights Australia and New Zealand (SSRANZ) unequivocally condemns the arrest of Australian journalist and political activist Murray Hunter in Bangkok on 29 September 2025, reportedly at the behest of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

JOINT PRESS STATEMENT Issued jointly by Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK), Sabah Sarawak Rights Australia New Zealand (SSRANZ), Borneo’s Plight in Malaysia Foundation (BoPiMaFo)

We agree with what TYT Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Wan Junaidi said Sarawak's position is protected in the federal constitution, the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) etc and the leaders of BN/GPS government had been harping on this for many years. This has been heard by me since I entered politics some years ago.

voon lee shanGiven the current political scenario concerning the flying of the Malaysian flag, it is safe not to fly the national flag to celebrate Hari Merdeka for Sarawak. Hari Merdeka, which is Malaya Independence Day should not be celebrated by Sarawak and Sabah.

(13 July 2025 | Kuching & Melbourne) The President of the Sabah Sarawak Rights – Australia New Zealand (SSRANZ), Mr Robert Pei, has strongly condemned the Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) for imposing arbitrary, last-minute, and potentially unconstitutional restrictions on the planned 722 public event commemorating Sarawak’s political history and paying tribute to the late Chief Minister Adenan Satem (Tok Nan).

SSRANZ and PBK Condemn Betrayal of Sarawak’s Oil & Gas Sovereignty
The so-called “Joint Declaration” between the Federal Government, PETRONAS, and the Sarawak Government is not a victory for Sarawak—it is its final surrender of Sarawak oil and gas rights.

Democracy is about representation, check and balance but without any strong opposition, there is very little check and balance against government policies as it is now.

(Sibu, 10th) Senator Lau Hui Yew stated that when Malaysia was formed, there was a promise to accelerate the development of Sarawak and Sabah. However, the resources of Sarawak and Sabah have been misappropriated to help others develop, often at their own expense. (SeeHua11 May 2025)

Dayaks can rise up again provided there is a Dayaks willing to sacrifice his life and comfort for the sack of the community. He must be God fearing. He must have Christ in him. And he must not have hatred against his political rivals and enemies.

The recent reminders by the Right Honourable Chief Justice of Malaysia Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat delivered at the Opening of the Legal Year 2025 Malaysia on 8th January 2025 and at the 24th Commonwealth Law Conference in Malta on 8th April 2025, as well as the statement by the Malaysian Bar dated 14th April 2025, of the importance of and necessity for an independent Judiciary and for the continuous strengthening of its independence are timely and ought to be supported, ...

The One-Third Seats in Parliament was forced by Tunku Abdul Rahman for Sarawak and Sabah to accept after Sarawak and Sabah after Singapore, Sarawak and Sabah were acquired Malaya to enlarge the territories of Malaya. Malaya then took a new name of Malaysia.

Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof was tasked by the primer minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim in December 2022 the responsibility of resolving outstanding issues concerning the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63). It is not difficult to resolve this matter.

If there is a Syariah Court for Muslims and a Native Court for the natives, is there anything wrong for the Sarawak government to set up a court for Christians to settle certain disputes amongst themselves?

I have some years ago echoed what the Rajah Order 1920 decreed about natural born Sarawakians be accorded native status. The Rajah Order 1920 which came into force from January 1, 1923 vide Sarawak Government Gazette Notification No: 143 (in Roman numerals CXLIII), 1922 dated November 16, 1922 at page 406.

Voon L SParti Bumi Kenyalang called for the safety of Sarawakians who are working or studying in Malaya and in Singapore. It is estimated that there are about 400,000 Sarawakians working and studying in Malaya and in Singapore. In Johore, there could be over 100,000 Sarawakians living or working there.

The Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA74) although argued unconstitutional or an invalid Act and unless repealed, vested the ownership, rights, powers, liberties and privileges of oil in Sarawak and Sabah in the hands of PETRONAS. Since ownership of the oil and gas resources had been transferred into the hands of PETRONAS, PDA74 does not require PETRONAS to pay “royalties” but, “cash payment” as compensation for the loss of these resources to Sarawak and Sabah.

Religion is important for the upbringing of children and we wish that the state government look into this seriously. It is learned from the press that the Sarawak government has approved about RM95 million to build the first Islamic International School in the state.

Voon L SWe are cery proud to have an airline of our own but, many airlines in the world collapsed! At one time MAS was said in problems with management and it was Idris Jala who salvaged the whole thing.

There is nothing expressed in the Sarawak Constitution whether there is or no official religion in Sarawak. In the absence of any clear exclusion of any religion as the official religion in Sarawak, it is difficult to say there is no official religion for Sarawak when the federal constitution expressly says that Islam is the official religion of Malaysia.
