It is noted that the Petroleum Development Act 1974 (PDA197) is in breach of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 and the federal constitution, thus, is void. Therefore, MPs from Sarawak have a political obligation to move a Motion in Parliament to repeal PDA 1974.
This is because the Act had been used to arbitrarily or illegally took our crude oil away. Prior to Malaysia Day the Borneo states of Sabah and Sarawak exercised exclusive powers over petroleum found within its extended boundaries, that is, the seabed and subsoil which lies beneath the high seas to the territorial waters of the respective states.
