Religion is important for the upbringing of children and we wish that the state government look into this seriously. It is learned from the press that the Sarawak government has approved about RM95 million to build the first Islamic International School in the state.
The intention of the Sarawak Malaysia to build and islamic International School has been received positively by non Muslims communities. However, non Muslim communities are asking the government not to neglect the religious development of their communities.
Sarawak is the most populous Christian state in Malaysia.
More than fifty percent of Sarawakians are Christians but Sarawak has no Christiaan schools and colleges been built by the government where Christians can send their children to learn Christian history and about their Christian Faith.
The Sarawak government is urged to look into this matter so that Christians have a place to learn theology.
At the same time, Buddhists should not be neglected too because Buddhism has huge followings in Sarawak. They also need to be taken care of by the government.
The Sarawak government needs to understand that the Christian and Buddhist communities, combined together, formed more than 70% of Sarawak population and they tax payers who contributed lots to the financial health of the state.
