I confirm that on 29 April 2026, I received a telephone call from a police officer regarding matters relating to public discussions on the historical and constitutional position of Sarawak and Sabah.

During the conversation, I cooperated respectfully and clarified that I was not in a position to provide investigative assistance on such matters, as they involve complex questions of history, law, and policy best addressed through academic research, official records, and lawful institutional processes.

I expressed, in good faith, that any discussion on these issues should be guided by credible sources, including historical materials, academic scholarship, and publicly available international references. I also emphasised that such matters should be approached carefully, responsibly, and within the framework of the law.

For clarity, any views I have expressed are general observations and opinions based on publicly available information and ongoing public discourse. They are not intended to create alarm, promote hostility, or target any individual or institution.

I remain committed to ensuring that all public statements are made responsibly, in accordance with Malaysian law, and in the interest of informed and constructive dialogue.

May Sarawakians and Sabahans stay strong and united to defend our rights. From legal opinions and from statements of our past leaders, it is clear that we have a right to independence which was taken away from us by the dubious Malaysia Agreement 1963(MA63)

Respectfully,

Voon Lee Shan
